Welcome to the 60 Plus Traveler! |
|
Hi. We're Carol and Steve Emmett. We've traveled all of our married life - 40 plus years. When our sons were born, they joined us on our travels. We've have a lot of travel adventures and have created a lot of great memories. We tend to travel with a very open itinerary. We know where we will start our trip and we know where we will end our trip but everything in between is often left to whim and whimsy.
- We know that walking on a side street is probably going to be more fun that going down the main street.
- We know that one of the best ways to discover a new city is to pick a bus or subway at random and see where it takes you.
- We know that "taking a left turn when everyone else is turning right." is going to lead to an unexpected adventure.
- We know that a vigorous hike through a cloud forest is good for the soul, as well as the body.
- We know that getting wet when you take a kayak trip down a river is downright fun.
- We know that taking your time to explore and discover new food is a one of the real joys of travel.
- We know that we are going to met some very interesting people.
- We know that you have to make time, and take the time, to relax during your trip.
We are enthusiastic travelers and are of the firm opinion that just because we are getting a bit older, that doesn't mean we have to resign ourselves to uneventful and unexciting travel. The goal of this website is to recount some of the trips we've taken in the last couple years and to talk about new trips as we take them. We firmly believe that all of these trips, and the activities in which we engage, are very appropriate for the 60 Plus Traveler. We may creak an bit more than we used to when we get up in the morning. We may take a bit longer than before to hike a trail. We may climb stairs a bit slower than we did when we were younger. We may ache a bit more after a great day kayaking. But we don't view these things as anything more than rewards for all the exciting times we've enjoyed.
We are very excited about some of the new travel we expect to be doing soon - traveling around the US in our brand new 5th wheel. You are welcome to come along for the ride.
